Not a great start to the day of a product shoot.
So this morning I decided to set up my Neewer strobe flash, I fished it out of the cupboard and because I hadn’t used it in a while I turned it on and was trying to familiarise myself with it again. I thought I would see if it could run the constant light with the flash simultaneously BUT when I tested it, The flipping thing blew up and started farting out smoke everywhere, For a moment I thought oh God this thing is going to cause a fire but I managed to unplug it meanwhile there was some sort of what looked like oil dripping from it. luckily enough I had just ordered a better one a couple of days previous. HAHA Theres a laugh for you.
Anyway today I was shooting a mens skull bracelet, which had a few different colours and speckles with this glossy skull face on the front which was really quite reflective. So that whenever I put any sort of light on the front of it, it just created extreme highlights.
I was trying to think what to put with the bracelet and because it had a skull I don’t know why I thought Fire but I had the idea to put fire behind it and let the reflections of the red and yellow show through, I put one light on the front on the skull which didn’t turn out too bad, keeping in mind I was in a small room with a large black cloth directly behind the flame, in my head I’m thinking after the morning I have just had I’m very skeptical how this is going to go.
I also wanted a shot of someone wearing the bracelet and with no-one around I had to be the hand model of course, Trying to work the camera and placing my hand in the right place believe it or not is actually quite difficult.
Here are the shots, The fire ones look a bit mad but Hey Ho there you go.
Thanks For Reading Hope You Enjoy.
